Week 2 Post 3
This weeks learning, quite frankly, made me question a lot of people I know and love. While getting into farther into the depth of utilitarianism and than into libertarianism I began to see the faults within each and the overall faults in only adhering to one labeled philosophy. In the midst of the political turmoil we are in currently it has been extremely indulging to learn a little more about the sources of peoples morals. In the few discussions/arguments i have engaged in over the past couple weeks it has been very helpful to understand these morals more in depth.
My questions for this weeks learning are... Are people who believe in libertarianism as truly happy as other groups? What makes them believe that money is the only thing that can make them happy? Why are people (myself included) so defensive of their political views and unable to accept critique of them?
How can we teach people to critique their own political beliefs?
ReplyDeleteThis question is truly hard to answer as I think peoples inability to critique their political view is one of the biggest issues we are facing as a nation (as of now). I think in general this could be done through education and creating an intellectual environment that enforces critical thinking of the self. I also think getting rid of the two party system would go a long ways.
