week 6 post 3
This week struck my interest because it addressed affirmative action which I'm not just talking about in this class but I also am talking about in Urban Leadership and the community of racial equity. it was really interesting to get into the importance of policies such as that, as well as the psychology behind it. I really thought it was interesting how John Rawl got into what makes people worthy of things because he addresses how subjective traits must be to survive in this specific Society.
My questions for this week are what would happen if society valued a different set of traits? What would the inequalities look like? How many of us could thrive a hunter-gatherer Society that can't Thrive here? Why is it that in this society more often than not people believe they deserve the fruits of their talents that only this Society happens to appreciate? playing off of that points to the fact that, our society values very Eurocentric defined concepts of talent. it makes me wonder how much more vibrant our world might be had colonizers not taken over everything? I feel that Western Society not only misses out on are other beautiful cultures but it misses out on other beautiful Talents and I wish in my lifetime to see a diversification of what talent means.
Tell me more about John Rawl.
ReplyDeleteI do in later weeks but when I did more research it seems as if he used his philosophies to back white supremacy which destroys the integrity of his arguments.
